Refrigerator Maintenance
Refrigerator maintenance is essential to increasing how efficiently it runs and how long it will last. Many issues we encounter on a daily basis can prevented. Think about how often the average refrigerator is actually used.
DID YOU KNOW?
An average family of 4 opens and closes a refrigerator door more than 140,000 times over an average fridge lifetime of 10 years.
Every time you or your family opens the refrigerator, the cold air it works so hard to create is released and must be replaced. Avoid these five common mistakes and save on repairs.
1.) Make sure the door closes completely each time you close it. Every bit of cold air needlessly released is time off of the life span of your refrigerator.
2.) 2.) Built in ice maker and water dispensers reduce the need to open doors. If your unit does not have these features, you may consider an external water filter and ice maker.
3.) Make sure your refrigerator is adequately ventilated! Depending on the floor plan of your kitchen, your oven may be adversely affecting the lifespan of your unit.
4.) Use containers that reduce your refrigerator’s workload. Some containers can help cool your food more effectively, helping to maintain the fridge’s internal temperature without extra work.
5.) Keep hot food away from your refrigerator. The goal is to maintain a naturally low temperature. This means it is best to let your meals cool thoroughly. This will help your unit last longer.
